 | Antenna Specialists Ball Mount Template |
If you are building your own mobile low band antenna system from parts you might be lucky enough to find one of the old Antenna Specialists Swivel Ball Mounts such as the ASC-3D or ASC-13D (and lucky enough to have a car it would look good on) you might need a template to use for drilling the mounting holes for the ball mount.
You can find a copy of a template for both models mentioned above in searchable PDF format in the downloads section- (more)
The file is named ASC-3_ASC-13_Ball_Mount_Template.pdf and you can find it linked here.
It's a shame these chrome models are not made any longer. The Antenna Specialists model ASC-3D is much more rugged than the look-alike you can find at the Circle R Shack. You will also need a 1-5/16 inch hole saw. This might cost you more than the mount- at least it did for me. These mounts are superb for mounting ham stick type antennas.
Of course you can find PCTEL (the current stewards of the brand) supplying a Standard Replacement Swivel Base Model ASP-3 and a Stainless Steel ASPR-368. The ASP-3 has a standard cast aluminum swivel base. Both have a 3/8"-24 threaded hole for whip or spring. The new models have a nice black Duracoat finish.
